Mr. Cole is a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law (1992), where he served as President of the Labor & Employment Law Society, and San Francisco State University (B.A., Speech Communications: Individual Major in Rhetoric and Minor Study in Business Administration). He is a member of the California State Bar and the State Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Section, is admitted to practice before the Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern District Courts of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and has prosecuted cases in California, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas state courts, as well as nationwide.

Mr. Cole has served as a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers (Series 7 Licensed), California’s Animal Legal Defense Fund, the Board of Directors of the American Synergy Center, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the California Employment Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Alameda and Contra Costa County Bar Associations (Vice-Chair of the ACBA’s Labor and Employment Law Section’s Executive Committee, 2009 and 2010) and as a U.S. Delegate to the InterAmerican Meeting of Labor and Trade Union Lawyers in Havana, Cuba (March 2012). Finally, Mr. Cole is an extremely well-respected leader in the field of employment class action litigation, has achieved record results in both settlements and judgments in such cases, has authored numerous scholarly publications, including the book Fallout (chronicling the 1994 toxic substance release by Unocal and the ensuing legal battle) and has been called upon to serve as a regular speaker at public seminars on issues surrounding employment law and class action procedures. Mr. Cole founded the predecessor firm to Scott Cole & Associates in 1992 and has devoted himself, his team, and the firm’s resources to championing employment and consumer law issues ever since.

Andrew D. Weaver, Esq., Associate Attorney

Mr. Weaver is a graduate of the University of California Hastings College of the Law, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. He is a member of the California State Bar and various federal courts, as well as a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA). Mr. Weaver serves as a skilled advocate in employment, personal injury, commercial and civil rights litigation (in individual as well as class actions), both in the courtroom and through various associations with which he is involved. He has taken a prominent role in dozens of class and/or group actions against small, medium and major corporations, including ones demanding the navigation of cutting-edge legal issues.

Laura Van Note, Esq., Associate Attorney

Ms. Van Note is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Law, where she was the Captain of the National Trial Advocacy Team, President of the American Constitutional Society and Teaching Assistant to the Director of Advocacy (Dean’s List and Order of the Barrister). She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City (B.A. in History with a Minor in French). She is a member of the California, Missouri and Kansas State bars and is admitted to practice in numerous federal courts in California, Kansas and Missouri. Ms. Van Note possesses a broad range of litigation experience handling matters related to labor and employment, product liability, premises liability, personal injury and civil rights matters. During her early career, Ms. Van Note participated in the pro bono litigation team responsible for the exoneration of Reginald Griffin, the 143rd person in the U.S. to be exonerated and freed from death row since 1973. Ms. Van Note has extensive courtroom experience handling evidentiary hearings and bench trials in courts across California, Missouri and Kansas. Her clients benefit from her varied background representing both plaintiffs and defendants.

In her spare time, Ms. Van Note volunteers as a judge for the University of California, Berkeley trial advocacy competitions.
